WHAT IS A SPIRIT ROCK? Parents, Students & Staff have the opportunity to "Rent the Rock" to recognize a student's birthday, show school spirit, thank or recognize a teacher or staff member, congratulatory events, etc. It is a great way to spread positive messages and increase excitement in our community!
HOW CAN I RENT THE WARRIOR ROCK? It’s simple, click on the hyperlink on the left. There you’ll be able to view the reservation calendar and request your desired day by emailing . Please do your best to request the rock at least 3 days in advance. This will allow for fewer scheduling conflicts as the calendar is updated by the Art Club sponsors.
The rental covers 24 hrs. (5 p.m. the day before the desired date to 5 p.m. on the desired date). For example: If you want to paint the rock for your child’s birthday on October 14th, you will select the 14th as your desired date. The rock will become available to you on October 13th at 5 p.m.
HOW MUCH DOES IS COST TO RENT THE ROCK AND HOW DO I PAY? There is a $5 rental fee, which goes towards supporting the GTHS Art Club. Payments are accepted through Revtrak (found on the Grovetown High School web page or use this handy QR code!)
WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED? You will typically need spray paint for the base coat and additional paint for your design. For more intricate designs, craft paint, foam brushes and even stencils work well.
WHAT OCCASIONS CAN I RESERVE THE ROCK FOR? You can reserve the rocks for anything: student’s birthday, thank a teacher or staff member, congratulatory events, good luck on competitions and tournaments, recognizing milestones, etc. The rock is a fun way to spread positive messages. However, messages containing profanity, denigration of any person or group, and political expressions are not permitted. Please note that there are blackout dates on the calendar when the rock is reserved for special school events.
WHAT IF I RESERVE THE ROCK AND THE WEATHER IS BAD? The rock can be towel dried and the paint will adhere even in the rain and or snow if you want to brave the elements. If painting in the rain or snow is not your thing, revisit the calendar and the art club sponsors will do their best to reschedule your date. Requests for rescheduling should be emailed to Robert Cox ([email protected]) and Elizabeth Sumerlin ([email protected] ).
WHAT IF THE ROCK IS ALREADY RESERVED ON THE DATE I WANT? Rock reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis so make your reservations ASAP! If the date you want is already reserved, you can select a different date. If a conflict arises with two requests being made for the same date, the first request will be assigned the date. The person making the second request will be given an opportunity to make another selection or have their money refunded.
WHAT IF I PAINT THE ROCK, AND IT IS PAINTED OVER? In the unfortunate case that your painting defaced before your rental period is complete, you will be refunded the rental fee. Note that this is contingent on the reason for painting over the rock. If repainting is required because the painting violates the guidelines, no refund will be given.
